Unlocking the potential of Madagascar’s 5,000 km of coastline through a blue economy that protects biodiversity while creating jobs and economic opportunities.

Madagascar has one of the highest poverty rates in the world. Large-scale environmental degradation is weakening the country’s future. The risk of collapse is real. Brilliant efforts exist, but they are fragmented.
Madagascar has everything it takes to become a leader in green and inclusive growth. What is missing ? A shared vision. Effective coordination.
At INDRI, we know this : scattered project-based approaches will not suffice. Yes projects are key and provide critical lessons from the field. But without collective thinking and national-level vision and strategies, projects alone can’t put a country on the right track. Our approach is to build very strong coalitions, bring ideas together, build a shared vision and strategies, so that the most effective solutions are implemented at scale.

INDRI is a center for expertise, collective intelligence and advocacy.
We conduct strategic analyses. We build impactful coalitions. We help build shared strategies between government, the private sector, civil society and researchers. We carry out effective advocacy and shift the status quo.
INDRI leads initiatives that bring together public institutions, private actors and civil society around concrete solutions for Madagascar. Our initiatives aim to transform ideas into large-scale action for green and inclusive growth. More specifically, we lead specific initiatives : to protect forests, to support promising value chains, to boost clean cooking, or to shape a national economic policy agenda. Each initiative relies on research, collective intelligence and effective advocacy.

” It is encouraging to see the strength of well-organised, fact-based advocacy. Madagascar needs infrastructure, but this highway was very poorly designed and would have harmed the country. I am pleased to have been able to support INDRI’s strategy on this issue. “
