Collective action for green and inclusive growth in Madagascar.
INDRI leads initiatives that bring together public institutions, private sector actors and civil society around concrete solutions for Madagascar. Whether it is about protecting forests, boosting promising value chains, promoting clean cooking solutions at scale, or shaping a national agenda for green and inclusive growth: our initiatives aim to transform ideas into large-scale action.
They rely on research, building effective coalitions, collective intelligence, communication and advocacy to drive positive change across the country’s urban, terrestrial and marine landscapes.
Launched in 2024, INDRI Connect is a participatory digital library dedicated to the environment and to green and inclusive growth in Madagascar. It brings together more than 300 documents and 100 stakeholders to centralise often scattered resources and facilitate information sharing, collaboration and access to actionable knowledge.
D4R is a research and advocacy initiative aimed at improving the effectiveness of ecological restoration projects in Madagascar. Its findings will help guide national landscape restoration policies.
INDRI plays a key advocacy role around this project. We mobilise stakeholders, raise awareness on the environmental and social risks, and propose concrete solutions. This advocacy work has already led to a review of the route to better protect Madagascar’s primary forests and essential ecosystems.
Clean cooking is a major ecological, social and health challenge in Madagascar, where the vast majority of households still rely on wood and charcoal. INDRI works with AfroClimate and MCCI to structure this sector, identify alternative solutions, support large-scale roll-out and accelerate the transition to more sustainable cooking solutions.
INDRI supports entrepreneurs and start-ups engaged in activities with environmental and social impact. By accompanying these businesses, INDRI helps make the private sector a driver of green and inclusive growth in Madagascar.
INDRI is gradually developing a programme dedicated to urban areas, with a particular focus on Antananarivo. The aim is to mobilise collective intelligence to analyse the challenges of mobility, housing and urban planning, and to propose concrete solutions to improve the functioning and quality of life in Malagasy cities.
ALAMINO is an initiative bringing together more than 250 public, private and civil society stakeholders to preserve forests and re-green Madagascar. Its current priorities include fighting fires and large-scale quality reforestation. Launched by INDRI, this initiative aims to identify concrete solutions and coordinate actions for healthy, productive and prosperous terrestrial landscapes.
In 2025, we placed green and inclusive growth at the heart of the national debate.International conference, Gen Z mobilisation, advocacy on major infrastructure projects and forest management, structuring of the clean cooking sector, blue economy, urban renewal: we contribute to defining an ambitious and realistic national agenda.
