is a center for expertise, collective intelligence and advocacy, founded in 2020 by 12 Malagasy leaders from civil society and the private sector.
Our goal is simple: help Madagascar recover and thrive. There is only one possible path forward : green and inclusive growth. Our team works towards this goal. We do this with all actors across the country’s major landscapes: terrestrial, marine and urban.
Our work is based on building effective coalitions with key stakeholders to develop high-impact strategies and support their implementation.
Indri is also the name of Madagascar’s largest lemur, an emblematic and sacred figure of the forest, considered a wise and protective spirit. Its powerful call, audible over several kilometers, makes it a natural sentinel capable of alerting and mobilizing entire territories.

INDRI was born from passionate discussions in 2019. Its founders share a common experience of leading numerous projects in Madagascar across the private sector, civil society and NGOs.
We all knew one thing : scattered projects are not enough. INDRI was created in 2020 with a clear ambition: connect projects and ideas, build national visions and strategies that make a lasting difference.
Madagascar has one of the highest poverty rates in the world. Large-scale environmental degradation is weakening the country’s future. Efforts to recover exist, but they are small, fragmented, uncoordinated.
Without a shared vision and effective coordination, the risk of collapse is real. Yet Madagascar has everything it takes to become a leader in green and inclusive growth.

At INDRI, we believe that multiplying isolated projects is not enough. Across Madagascar, initiatives and solutions are already emerging on the ground. Yet they remain fragmented and struggle to translate into green and inclusive growth. Our role is to connect these initiatives, build shared visions, and develop collective strategies capable of delivering lasting change at scale.
We are committed to addressing the challenges facing Madagascar's landscapes. We tackle difficult issues, engage in necessary conversations, examine our own shortcomings, and confront key challenges through open and honest dialogue.
We are committed to driving change in the environmental sector in Madagascar, honoring our commitments to partners, and doing everything within our power to improve the country's ecological situation.
We value innovation wherever it helps overcome obstacles — in our internal operations, in the mobilization of collective intelligence, and in the technical solutions we promote for Madagascar.
We work in a spirit of collaboration and mutual support. We prioritize the sharing of efforts, ideas, expertise and data, working closely with communities and with local and international actors.
Madagascar becomes a leader in green and inclusive growth. Civil society, the private sector and the government join forces to put the country on the path to prosperity.

Together, let’s transform Madagascar’s future.
