How we work

At INDRI, we turn Madagascar’s economic, environmental and social challenges into concrete solutions at national scale. Our approach is based on a simple method: producing strong research, building impactful coalitions, feeding public debate, and providing high level decision-makers with the means to restore prosperity. We turn ideas into collective action, and collective action into lasting impact.

The steps of our theory of change

Conduct research and strategic analysis

We begin by developing a deep understanding of each challenge.

We gather existing information and draw lessons from past experiences in Madagascar and beyond. Our role is to sort through often fragmented data to extract what matters most: what blocks progress, what works, and what can truly change the status quo. This provides a solid foundation to guide coalitions.

Mobilize collective intelligence

Once the challenges are clearly defined, we build strong coalitions with key actors: public authorities, private sector, researchers and civil society.

We create spaces for dialogue where ideas can be challenged, experiences shared, and common solutions built. This collective work helps overcome barriers and leads to realistic proposals supported by all and capable of driving change at country scale.

Communicate to raise awareness and mobilize

We make key issues visible and understandable in order to drive engagement.

Based on collectively developed proposals, we produce clear, accessible and mobilizing messages. We use media, social networks and targeted campaigns to reach the public, field actors and decision-makers. Our objective is simple: to be a key contributor to public debate and enable action.

Advocate to turn decisions into action

We bring concrete proposals to public institutions to influence policies and practices.

Because these proposals are co-developed with stakeholders from the outset, they are legitimate, realistic and more likely to be adopted. We also mobilize influential actors (individuals and organizations capable of advancing decisions in key spaces) including institutional leaders, economic actors and recognized public figures.

By carrying these proposals collectively, these actors strengthen their credibility and accelerate their adoption. We also work with decision-makers to support implementation and ensure follow-up over time.

Lasting impact at scale for green and inclusive growth

Our ambition is to contribute to the recovery and long-term transformation of Madagascar. Each step forward strengthens the capacity of actors to work together and tackle increasingly complex challenges.

We aim for lasting impact: a more resilient development model, a stronger and greener economy, and a more inclusive society.
